Project Update: HCSEF New Oversight Agency for PBC Counts Web Portal

December 5, 2012

“The Health Council of Southeast Florida (HCSEF) is thrilled to be the new oversight agency for the PBC Counts web portal.  The portal is an extremely valuable asset to the community, and we feel that HCSEF, with our data and planning expertise, knowledge of the community and partnerships with individuals and organizations within the community will be able to further advance and improve this already wonderful resource,” said Dr. Edward Fischman, Chairman of the HCSEF Board.

About Palm Beach County Counts:

Palm Beach County Counts is a collaborative effort of seven organizations working with the Healthy Communities Institute, Inc. to maintain a local, interactive website that provides easy to understand health, economic, environmental and other data based indicators about Palm Beach County.

Users of the website access census data by zip code, custom local data indicators, get contact information on best practice programs from across the United States and explore hard to find local reports all for free.  Community planning groups are using the website to highlight areas of critical concern by building “dashboards” of local information; including on Diabetes, Health and Human Service concerns and the safety and well being of Palm Beach County’s children.

The founding organizations include: The United Way of Palm Beach County, Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach County, Health Care District of Palm Beach County, Quantum Foundation, Palm Healthcare Foundation, Board of County Commissioners of Palm Beach County, and Workforce Alliance, Inc.  Allegany Franciscan Ministries and the Lake Okeechobee Rural Health Network have also provided the project with funding.
